I would say this book is more a book on Hinduism than palmistry. It talks a lot on Hindu thoughts and concepts. I did learn that real progress or spiritual evolution only comes in having more awareness in the present and being able to consistently sustain that present awareness regardless if it takes place at 7 yrs of age or 70 yrs of age. For a nice anecdote presenting this point, I particularly like the story of the man who opened up his restaurant. His destiny line was originally started at the age of 28 when he was 21 but years later when he was 31 yrs old when he opened up his first restaurant his destiny line shifted and moved to the age of 21. It seems practicing being in the present moment at the age of 31 had shifted the destiny line to the age of 21. You might ask why did his destiny line move to the age of 21 and not the age of 31, when he opened up his first restaurant? Well, the reason was that the seeds of opening up the restaurant were actually planted by his grandfather, when he and his grandfather went fishing he suggested to him, since he was a good cook, he should open up his own restaurant. So in practicing being in the present at 31 yrs of age, it had opened up forgotten experiences, suggestions and moments of helpful advice. So you see that being in the present moment can actually shift both past and future. You might then ask yourself how is that possible? Well, in regards to true reality there is only the present moment that only really exists. The past and future don't really exist. Past and future are only illusions of the mind, which seems to think only in a linear fashion. So, not only did this restaurateur evolve spiritually by being present, his expanded consciousness also produced material results quickly and right away because it was all being done in the present.The book does go somewhat into palmistry but not enough depth and prescience on what the meanings of the lines, mounts and signs on the palm. I did particular like Birla's concept of inactive and active hand representing subconscious and present consciousness in your life. It was interesting to know that the inactive hand is a summary of your last three incarnations. It is nice that the book does include acetate to take imprints of your palms for your own perusal. Not fully convinced that drawing the ideal hand and visualizing on this twice a day can change lines in your palm or your life! I think that takes different personal life actions on a daily basis. This is a good book on Hinduism but the problem is not enough on Palmistry itself!
One of the few books on Vedic palmistry available in English. I wish it were a bit longer, but it is a good introduction to the subject!
This is one of the best books on Vedic Palmistry I have read. The author has very deep understanding of the vedic philosophy and the science of palmistry and yet it is presented with a very modern frame of mind. Illustrations are very clear and precise. Foreward by David Frawley - says a lot about the quality of the book. I love every page but my favorite is how each feature of the hand is explained in terms of the 3 levels of consciousness and sattva, rajas and tamas. It is only 104 pages, so no useless fluff either. Hard to put it down once you start reading it. Even if you are not interested in palmistry but are a spiritual seeker, you will not regret you bought this book.
New and clear knowledge on the relationship between palmistry and astrology. Highly recommend it.
This book is certainly nicely illustrated and well presented. It may be an excellent gift for yours friends, if they would like to discover some aspects of palmistry. However, for a more experienced reader, it might be difficult to grasp if the content is specifically vedic palmistry or a mix of occidental and oriental pespectives.
